I'll need to read my bible again. It's a bit old and put together by a bunch of people with a narrative in mind from bits and fragments and leaving anything they didn't like out of it but iirc the Armageddon stuff didn't mention the US at all. -

Educated people know the stories of the bible or the prophecies aren't literal. They're historically & scientifically inaccurate.

Educated people know the stories of the bible or the prophecies aren't literal. They're historically & scientifically inaccurate.
And, as you said, the editors, redactors, translators & interpreters of the texts were *men* with agendas, who left out anything they didn't like and certain were creative in some of their interpretations & translations, making sure they "properly" addressed the issues du jour.
For ex, did you know that the word translated to English as "man" (zachar) in that verse in Leviticus actually means "heir?" Don't sleep w/ your adopted or bio heir. It's a big power & consent issue.

My dad was brought up by Jesuits and chatting about this stuff was normal around the dinner table - I know weird, and being female I had no reason to go that way religious in my life - all very patriarchal, why bother.If Armageddon is happening now, though, blokes with bombs and guns have an awful lot more to worry about those without them.

@MissGayle They were cobbled together - it's rather marvellous in it's own way and may contain truths, and certainly plenty of food for thought in there. I probably read more of it than I should, but I was interested.
I always wanted and still do to be a good person and I'm fortunate that my family made space for debate. It was far later in life I realised that knowing cruelty is evil didn't need 5000 texts, and the even more joyful discovery that most people know it anyway, and act accordingly
