Speaking of movie memorabilia: I don't have the money for this sort of thing but if I did & I got my hands on it, I would DEFINITELY wear it - is that a collector's sin...?

@jwcph ooh the logo from the dropship, nice.
There's nothing stopping you from wearing it, it's technically yours.

It seems that prop collecting is like an expensive swapping club. If you look at the auction catalogues as much as I do, the same props go around in rotation as the sellers want a change.
When I first saw one of the BttF2 hoverboards in the catalogue, it was like "Wow!"
Now it's, "oh hoverboard again. Tsk."

@UKFilmNerd Exactly - including the "We Endanger Species" tagline, which isn't actually visible enough to read in the movie but Ron Cobb gets a chuckle over it in the making-of, which I love

@UKFilmNerd I agree, it looks & sounds like a circle-of-stewardship thing - Adam Savage has said on several occasions that he feels like he's just caring for his collected props for a while, until they pass on to other collectors. For a unique piece I'd say that means keeping it as close to its original condition as possible, but personally I would feel differently about merchandise; if someone wants to keep that in mint condition, fine, but I would use it.

@UKFilmNerd I do, in fact, have a pair of replica Agent sunglasses by Blinde from "The Matrix: Reloaded", which I wear on a regular basis

@jwcph thing is, that jacket is probably crew stuff which makes it rare. I doubt it's merchandise.

@UKFilmNerd I think you're right - I would still call that merch, but yes, limited edition merch
