Welcome to the #LongestTrainEU #CrossBorderRail record breaking thread!

@jon Electrified in 1915

️Here’s your affected section for reference. Source is jarnvagskartan.se (clearly using open data from Trafikverket)
@stefanlindbohm How do you know the impacted section is just that bit?
-
@jon If we have someone working at an operator, they have access to internal systems which is similar to the DB ones in Germany, with more detailed info not available to the public. I don’t have this access :((
@stefanlindbohm @jon I don't know if Maartje has access to the data
-
@stefanlindbohm How do you know the impacted section is just that bit?
@jon The impacted section is by definition the whole power section. This is just the bit of it that is needed to run between Boden and Haparandabanan

@stefanlindbohm Ah, understood, OK.
-
So I just called Norrtåg
There is a power line down somewhere. If it is fixed in time, 7185 will be a train. If it is NOT fixed in time it will be a bus...

So how bad is this power line failure?
@jon Damn, maybe we shouldn't have joked yesterday that it will be all fine if only you manage to get to Umeå.

-
And if you look at the data for Boden the "Elfel" (electric fault) is only towards Kiruna
I reckon 7185 *could* run, if Norrtåg wants it to. Let's see if they want it to run!

At about 1100 CEST I will likely know what will happen - if train 7184 leaves Luleå headed to Haparanda, as that turns around here and should be the 13:47 departure (train 7185) to Boden
-
@jon Do you have access to Galileo? Maybe that works - and is our own European system to boot!
@thisislieven @jon That is seldom something one can choose in consumer devices. They typically automatically use several GNSS systems: GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and Beidou.

@jon https://norrtag.se/trafiklaget/#/today lists Buddbyn as the location, which is indeed the other branch.
It also lists all today's trains from Haparanda as cancelled

-
@gufo Right, exactly. That's what is so hard to estimate. If someone could specify more precisely WHERE the problem is that would help a lot!
@jon 1409.se does give a more precise location: Gransjö - Sandträsk. Not that it’s very helpful on its own, unfortunately, as I don’t know where the electrical circuits begin and end. And I’m pretty sure that’s not supposed to be public, either.

No
Train cancelled
It has all broken in Haparanda

@jon Darn!

@jon Did you see that 7184 and 7185 are now reported as cancelled on the Norttåg website?

@jon It’s not looking good - this is in the news now. Translation in alt text.

@partim yes. Trying to re-plan *again*

@stefanlindbohm @jon Since this is a train journey record, I assume a replacement bus will fail the attempt, is this right ?
-
@jon FWIW I have an Android app on my phone named GPS Status (ad supported) that displays what satellites are in view. Right now right here, 71 satellites with 45 fixes. Up in Alaska last year, getting far fewer
@bellinghman @jon In addition to GPS and Galileo it does GLONASS & BeiDou?
