I have an interview soon that's supposed to be about "finding Planet 9 with the Vera Rubin Observatory", and I'm going to see if I can hijack it into an interview about satellite pollution instead.

I'm quite convinced that there is not another giant 10x Earth-mass planet out there waiting to be discovered, but there's a super interesting story written into the orbits of distant TNOs, waiting to be uncovered about our solar system's history, and it's going to get obliterated by satellite streaks

@sundogplanets I can see throwing all sorts of shade -- "while Plan 9 From Outer Space is unlikely to exist, if it did we're currently so impacted by satellite light pollution that we'd be unable to see it" or "if Plan 9 *did* exist we would need XXX thousand of them to have the same amount of light than just one of the tens of thousands of LEO satellites currently rendering ground based telescopes less and less useful"

I wish you well in redirecting the interview.

@sundogplanets I don't know enough to have an opinion about Planet 9 worth saying, but it does sure seem like the ability to find out is being stolen from us

nice approach. We can't find Planet 9 because of fucking satellite streaks.
