AI companies will simply not be affected in any meaningful way if you if don’t write an alt text or write a useless one. You know why? Because alt text isn’t nearly enough even if it was perfect and they’ll pay for sweatshop level labor in the global south anyway.

Meanwhile you’ve made a blind user’s day worse.

Therefore, ask yourself this: would you rather help a stranger and make their day better or have the effect of a fly on an elephant's skin against an AI company?

in addition to that, i don't want big, abusive corporations to push me into behaving in a worse manner towards others

your fellow humans are the important ones. give them priority, rather than the ones seeking to make everyone's lives worse
