@MakersHour My degree was in Product Design and so I was let loose in a pretty decent workshop for the first time.
Making our own tools for random specific woodworking or foam-carving tasks was fairly common and very satisfying, but alas I no longer have access to a pretty decent workshop!

@MakersHour I made several pinhole cameras. They're easy to make and fun to use. My favourite was one made out of a walnut. It even worked!

@MakersHour #MakersHour A3: I do occasionally want to learn to spin. Woodturning to make knitting needles is a little farther away, in terms of budget, space, and hand strength, but not enough places sell the kind of needles I like.

A3: I once made a knife and sheath. For no other reason than I fancied giving it a go!

@screwturn @MakersHour cool huh? And actually fairly easy. The hardest bit is drilling a hole in the shell without damaging it. Then drill a tiny hole in a scrap of aluminium cut from a drinks can with a needle and tape it over the hole. That's basically it. Scrap of film or photo paper in it and you're ready to take one tiny, slightly crumpled picture.

I've made (or at least designed for others to make) jigs and winding tubes for wire jewelry making. I made a board with a 90 degree raised edge corner for aligning stained glass when building projects.

A3: I still would love to make some specialty feet for my sewing machine, but am entirely clueless how to.
I also wish I knew how to rework my sewing machine (a trusty mechanical one) to add a knee lift, but that's even more of a pipe dream.

@MakersHour A3 My own tools or crafting kii? It's pretty standard for introductory projects in piecing to be about organizing projects and tools. Behold my lap in the railway carriage seat.
I haven't wanted to make my own needles or hoops though.
