    @blondy the cynical me asks how long will it take for disciplinary actions to be taken against them for politicizing the work environment.

      Cool!🌈😊🫶
      But I agree with the others that it's sad it's not a matter of course that everyone is safe with healthcare professionals..

      In case you know this:

      Does everyone have to wear a lab coat that says “Notarzt,” or are there also options like “Notärztin” or “Notärzt*in"?

        @blondy / Yes, that's nice, but it's a tragedy that is, unfortunately, necessary.

            @blondy Come to think of it, it's a bit confusing that the colour coding for blue and red states in the US and Germany is the other way round (in German: blue state = right-wing, red state = left-wing). 😅

            @oliverboehme @blondy Same in the UK, blue = right-wing (although purple = far right-wing is becoming worryingly popular...), red = left-wing (although they're becoming more and more wishy-washy and centrist...)

                    @blondy very sympathetic, obviously.

                    But that doctors need to proclaim this at all, is a horror to me. It should go without saying that one is safe with a doctor, especially in emergencies. Or am I too boomer when I say this? What a time to be alive.

                    @CyclesSmiles Independently of your age, it's a difference between theoretical safety in a hospital and feeling a signal of welcoming and experience.
                    Try to imagine being trans and getting a fascist doctor. Yes, of course, they have to treat you in equality with others. But will they do it?
                    In Germany are regions where it's time to show resistance. By old and young.

                      @oliverboehme The colour of political parties differs from country to country. The US are only one country of many. Fascists in Germany once in history were brown with red flags. The extreme right then chose blue to avoid all the historical "brown as shit" comments.
                      Edit: sorry that I explained German colours to a German, I thought you were from the USA. *peinlich*

                              @oliverboehme @blondy Historically, red is the colour of revolution (since at least the French revolution), and, via that route, of communism/socialism. Blue has a (much weaker) association with Monarchy and conservatism. The US red/blue states more or less emerged randomly during the Bush v. Gore TV reporting in 2000.

                                @blondy Unrelated, but I can’t read “Notarzt” without first wrongly translating to “Not-a-doctor”. I figure out what it means, eventually.

                                  @scottytrees @blondy I assume because it's much easier to find them in English.
                                  It makes sense, however, because pretty much all Germans understand enough English to read these but not everyone in German hospitals speaks German well enough to be able to read the message in German.

                                    @StephanSchulz @oliverboehme @blondy Wow, honestly didn't realise that this was such a late development. Always thought that it was like that for a much longer time and I just didn't learn it earlier. Makes it even more strange that it developed at a time where the Republicans were already the clearly more conservative party and red has clearly been associated with socialism for a century.

                                      @CyclesSmiles oh have you ever heard of "trans broken arm syndrome"?

                                      tldr, docs will always try to deflect every symptom you describe as result of your HRT or shit. even when you slipped on a stair and broke your arm right in front of their eyes.

                                        @blondy very sympathetic, obviously.

                                        But that doctors need to proclaim this at all, is a horror to me. It should go without saying that one is safe with a doctor, especially in emergencies. Or am I too boomer when I say this? What a time to be alive.

                                        @CyclesSmiles @blondy It _is_ sad that this is necessary, but: Medical professionals a few decades ago were also not all exemplary and supportive. They might not have been full blown fascists, but there are countless stories where queer people and cis women were not taken seriously in medicine, sometimes with quite severe consequences.

                                        The better times of the boomers were often not even that good if you did not happen to be a cis straight white man.

                                          @blondy Come to think of it, it's a bit confusing that the colour coding for blue and red states in the US and Germany is the other way round (in German: blue state = right-wing, red state = left-wing). 😅

                                          @oliverboehme @blondy it's weird since the US still uses "red" when they mean cold war communism as in "better dead than red” and "red scare".

                                          And the Democratic Socialists of America do use red like SPD.
