@liaizon honestly, the responses you linked the other day were endlessly puzzling to me – how in the world do you, of your own free will, make your open source initiative use a service linked to thiel and palantir? how is this something that required ‘news breaking’ to understand, or something a post bein gdrafted could solve?
those names come up and you turn the other way and say ‘fuck no.’ this is like putting up swastika wallpaper thinking it’s going to be fine, you can also sit in the closet where we didn’t put it up.

@gekitsu 1000% with you. I am utterly baffled by their responses and will not stop my criticism till there is a direct response that addresses this issue head on. I really don't want to head in the direction of trying to convince the many thousands of projects that they should give up on using OC entirely because of this.

I think you're doing more harm than good, there are few ethical funding platforms like them, and we shouldn't be so quick to assume the worst, after seeing they are looking for non-us alternatives.
You trying to push projects away could lead to someone not getting funding, are you sure you want to put your own privilege above those who may not have the same?

No, I don't think anyone said it would be for "rare occasions". I have not been paying too much attention to this, but from my limited awareness, I believe they said they would make it optional to allow financial institutions to collaborate with them that use Persona. Boycotting Persona would pressure those financial institutions to stop using Persona.

@dansup I am a huge fan of OC, I don't want to push anyone away from using them, I want to push OC to see the error in their judgement. I am a member of multiple collectives who use OC and have a specific interest in the future of OC to continue being a trusted partner in our collective open future stack. The move they are making is currently breaking this trust.
