    Out at the Racetrack playa in Death Valley, where the "sailing stones" live, there were some fresh tracks! It has been a long time since I saw <6mo old tracks!

    @elaterite we throw stones in curling because the rocks enjoy it. They'll even curl themselves if we don't help them.

        This planet is just so awesome. Weird and hard to comprehend at times, but amazing. Great photo.

          I love that place! Haven't been in a decade.

          What are the flowers like in the park now? I've been wanting to get there, but being sick last week screwed up a bunch of plans.

            @ewen Thank you! But, it was more fun when they weren't sure how the rocks moved.

              @Mikal Mostly desert gold. Here's the park service website tracking the bloom:

                @elaterite Ooooh. I had to look up sailing stones (and now I remember I did know how they moved) and it's AWESOME!!! And agree. Love the mystery.

                      @elaterite

                      Thanks, I went and checked after I asked. I'd really like to see Lake Manly full of water again. I was there once many years ago when it was full. It was fun to swim in! I've heard Carrizo Plain is good this year as well. I'd like to do a week-long flower road trip right now, but I'm just getting over covid, so don't want to push myself with insane long drives.
