@chrismerkel Fair enough, and that's one of the other biggest issues with Peertube at the moment. But my understanding is, for many YouTube creators anyway, Ad revenue is a pretty small fraction of their income. Obviously I can't say much on that for Alec specifically.

Also the viewership is so low, I doubt it would even make much of a difference at the moment. Obviously that could change in the future but he could always stop uploading to Peertube, or find some other monetization strategy.

@techindepth27 Creating a diverse income stream is absolutely top of mind for most creators. YouTubes algo is stunningly arbitrary and I've seen amazing creators get absolutely rinsed for not adapting content to their opaque whims.

I love the idea of peertube and would love even more to see advertising and payments tech come to the fediverse, becuse the power to decide wether to see ad-supported content, or make micropayments is better than a monolithic platform only designed for revenue generation.

@TechConnectify In regards of your closing statement, you are still too nice about it. Whatever ICE has become resembles the Sturmabteilung which became quite powerful in German in the mid 1920s. It's paramilitary terrorising journalists, opposition and people deemed unworthy.

I'm not certain, if peaceful resistance is going to suffice.

And please get yourself solar cells on your roof. That is an opportunity for multiple videos and rants against dongled inverters and similar bullshit.
