A pocket philosophical anecdote that has been brewing in the back of my head over the day...

Looking at people close to me that have been drawn in by #AI and really gone all in, using it as a main driver for their work, I realized that it correlates with 2 different personality traits that I subconsciously associate with them.

Sociopathic/manipulative on one side, and sycophantic/gullible on the other.

Which again, coincides with demographics on X, using crypto/NFTs, and far right politics

The S/M side usually totally understand the questionable ethics involved, and can see the produced work is shit straight from the uncanny valley. But they accept this as a trade-off to reach whatever target they are chasing.

The S/G group simply cannot comprehend the moral ramifications, and cannot see the abysmal level of quality, even if you point it out to them. They cannot even be faulted for this, they seem earnestly unable to see it.

@kamstrup I think it's related to how we can look at the world through the lens of the society, relying on consensus and authority, or through the lens of practicality, relying on experiment and promises. The first view doesn't care how you do something, as long as it appears right. The second view sees the work itself as an important part of the task. We use both those views in different contexts, some people lean more on one of them.

It's interesting to ponder which personality traits I find detract from AI fascination as well...

I don't have a clear picture, but something like:

Independent, creative, sceptical, renegade, humanistic, authentic, valuing the process not just the goal.

@kamstrup Are these people in a certain domain, professionally?

I'm curious, because I don't see the same thing, but I'm in the healthcare domain, so it could be quite a different context having effect on the observations.
