Whoa. Bruce Springsteen's new "The Streets of Minneapolis"
-
Musikalisch dürftig, dünkt mich. Dachte, er hätte Streets of Phili recycelt. Wäre besser gewesen.
@distincteclare @petergleick
Da hast du vermutlich recht, aber es geht nicht darum, ob das das beste Lied aller Zeiten ist. -
Whoa.
Bruce Springsteen's new "The Streets of Minneapolis""Their claim was defensive, sir
Just don't believe your eyes.
It's our blood and bones
And these whistles and phones
Against Miller and Noem's dirty lies."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWKSoxG1K7w&t=3sSuddenly reminded of Billy Bragg.

@BorisBarbour @petergleick
Billy Bragg has released a song too. Apologies if that's what you were referring to! -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWKSoxG1K7w&t=3sI just mentioned to someone a couple days ago that I was wondering when one of the big name musicians would release a song on the level of "Ohio". Didn't have to wait long.

Amen. Been wondering when the New Songs of Defiance would kick in bigly.
I hope this generation emerges from the coming years of turmoil with freedom intact and an amazing catalog of music that will fire their souls all the rest of their--and their children's--lives. Great music shouldn't have to be bought with blood and chaos, but here we go again. -

@distincteclare @Kommentator @petergleick Wieso besser? Neue Lage, neues Lied. Einfach ein altes Lied zu recyclen würde eigentlich faul sein, ein Bisschen wie Elton John und sein Diana Lied.

I agree, @BorisBarbour. Sadly, there is an element of preaching to the converted in the #Minneapolis songs of both #BillyBragg and #BruceSpringsteen.
That's not bad. Activist morale needs to be maintained and boosted, and these songs are morale-boosters. But it's also not great. Movements win only when they gain traction beyond their activist core, and these songs won't do that.
