@Ivor Looks amazing, and the discussion of the hard work that went into it makes me appreciate (even more) how impressive the miles and miles of dry stone walls around the country really are. It also reminds me of the generations of skilled country people that built and maintained them over the years.

@Dianotron here in the North Pennines, the incredible dry stone walling is not just on the surface. That's me in front, just clearing shale from the floor.

There are miles and miles of disused lead mine levels that are lined as in this photo. The quality of this stonework is second to none and very little movement after hundreds of years.

I have completed the repair to the steep wall at Intake Farm. I have never worked on such a steep slope and probably never will again.

The challenge of working on a steep site makes me glad to be finished. It is a job that I will remember for a long time.

@Pollinators yes, thanks, I'm quite blown away by the reactions. I think it's easy to forget that this was once a very common job for many people and without any status, unlike now, as we rapidly lose the skills.

I'm scratching the surface of the work that's been done in the past. Standing on the shoulders of giants, as they say.

                      Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.

As someone else said, there’s something strangely satisfying about it (which is easy to say when I’ve had none of the back-breaking work to do.)

@TalktoBeverley don't worry, I may have aching feet from trying to stay vertical but I am aware that it's technically a well built wall and very satisfied with the result.
