@astronomerritt The intergalactic count has some good policies too: building at least one affordable home (which I've said previously is one more than anyone else has pledged), and compensation to the victims of the Post Office IT scandal, among others.
If I were in Clacton, I'd be voting Binface.

The thing is, Farage is fucked either way. Sure, he will probably win the by-election, but he is standing against Count Binface, a satirical candidate who calls himself an “independent space warrior”. That’s hardly the resounding political victory he wanted. And if Binface gets any significant proportion of the votes, which he likely will, then that’s voters who would rather have a man with a bin on his head than Farage.
To be fair to Count Binface, he’s smart as hell and knows exactly what he is doing, and I (with Kemi fucking Badenoch, apparently) wish him all the luck in the world.
It finally happened, I am finally on the same side of an issue as Kemi Badenoch. I did not expect this.

@astronomerritt It seems like Count Binface runs in a lot of elections; where does he actually live? Or is there more than one? Can I get a Binface franchise in the US for the Philadelphia City Council elections?
@linuxandyarn There does seem to be only one Binface (so far!) though I appreciate it would be quite hard to tell. The UK has a history of satirical candidates running in elections: you only need to pay a £500 deposit and get some local folk to support your candidacy, so anyone can do it really. This leads to amazing news photos, like this one of haunted Victorian pencil and far-right spanner Jacob Rees-Mogg standing next to a man calling himself Captain Beany.

@linuxandyarn @astronomerritt to take part in any election, definitely for the local ones, you need two people who live in the area to support you. That is it. I think for Parliment there is also a deposit that you need to pay.
If you emailed or DM'd Count Binface he might be supportive. Worth a try.

But those in the know will know that you can get these signatures by door knocking - there are sufficiently many people who will sign *anything* if that's the quickest way to get you off their doorstep.
Or he could just set up a trestle table on the sea front and collect enough signatures from passers-by in a morning.
Unlike Farage's party. His candidate in my ward one year was unable to find ten fascists to sign the nomination papers and forged some of the signatures. He got caught.

I'd love a Binface win, driven by a record high turnout and protest vote brought around by the attention it'll get -- live by the media circus, die by the media circus.Realistically, it'll be a Farage win, and probably not even close. And he'll rah-rah-bark about how The People support him, while quietly ignoring a record high number of votes going to Binface, record high spoilt ballots, and a record low turnout, I'd guess him getting as low as 15% of the actual eligible vote?
