@ctt so there's 3 different versions of DDG (that i know of) and the lite version is my favorite, but i recently set up a SearXNG server might end up being better once i get all the options tweaked how i like it? we will see
i'm not a huge fan of DDG since it's basically just orange bing, but it works, which is more than i can say for some of the other ones. hosting my own search engine is both cool, hip, and rad, i just gotta learn what the hell i'm doing so i can get it to act right

@ctt I started using Startpage as my default recently at my friend's suggestion. Depending on my query I find it to be better or worse than DDG, so I switch between the two as needed. Very occasionally I have to use Google for certain personal queries, though I do use Google at work since I can't change the default on my managed machine

@ctt I’ve used DDG for quite a while but have issues with it on my old phone (cannot eradicate their AI assist).
But am testing the waters a bit with Qwant, because I use Waterfox and they have made it their default https://www.waterfox.com/blog/waterfox-partners-qwant/
@urlyman @ctt I know this was not a request for help so feel free to ignore.
In most browsers (including on mobile) you can set up a custom search engine. If you do that, and use
https: // noai . duckduckgo . com / ?q=%s
(remove the spaces) you will not have to disable the AI, it will always be disabled.
I can also give you the settings to use for suggestions and image search if you're interested (on a desktop browser you can set those for a custom search engine too).

Google on desktop, but with the query string that forces it to act like old Google. -
