@flexghost

@flexghost my fascination started when I had that one cool lecturer at uni who gave us "Flappers and Philosophers" by F. Scott Fitzgerald to read

@GGMcBG @flexghost
And all the following decades of WAR too
️@Freigeist62
The jumps at each conflict point and the next several years, each time.
WWI gave a slight bulge then a rest. But after that there was no going back. -

The planet is getting hotter. Fast.
It is obvious, visible and now it is noticable...

@kralcttam Make sure to laugh at them before saying “sorry my bad”
@flexghost That's so cold it'd cool a GPU in a Parisian data center.

@flexghost Fast indeed. The thing I don't get about this is I never needed a visualization because I've seen it happening just in my own lifetime. And I just wonder, do the older people who are in charge pretty much everywhere not have functioning memories that they can actually deny this is going on? They should remember *further* back than me and will have seen even more extreme changes... I mean, we're talking "I walked home in the snow" to "what is snow?" level stuff...

@flexghost @hllizi @flyhigh its really as easy as enough people doing something that no individual hesitates to act for the assurance of knowing others will carry on in their stead if they fall or are captured.
we don't have this though.

@flexghost Always temper the bad news with the good. https://theconversation.com/scientists-have-scrapped-the-worst-case-climate-scenario-because-action-is-making-a-difference-283675 People need hope, they need to see that change is possible.

@flexghost This is an ominous and unambiguous visualization. Not to sound cynical about it, but how long until the idiot President demands the arrest and imprisonment of its creators?

@flexghost Recorded temps really took off after 1980. I blame Reagan, as I do for every shitty thing that happened since his first term.

@flexghost @flyhigh Is it really that easy, doing something?
@hllizi @flexghost @flyhigh Ah, grasshopper, it is not the doing of something that is hard, but the not doing of something. Doing something is finite, not doing something takes forever.
