In the spirit of this comic, I armed myself with COVID and flu antibodies this week.

@Luke @jensorensen Ha!

Randomly browsing Mastodon and get a comic giving actual good lifestyle advice outta nowhere. I didn't ask for this, but thank you anyway.

@jensorensen Sort of the Normal People Militia.
Any discomfort from the COVID & flu shots? The early ones knocked me flat as a flour tortilla.
@weezmgk The flu shot never gives me any trouble, but this year's COVID shot knocked me off my feet for longer than usual (since the first year or so).

@jensorensen Did the same yesterday. My immune system is working hard right now. I’m still bouncing back.
@patmikemid Yeah, the COVID shot hit me pretty hard this year.
-
@jensorensen I've done all these things!! Thanks for the reminder Jen!
(Also, people should really subscribe to her Patreon, she has great posts that accompany her comics. I've been a member since 2024 and I'm so glad I did.

A four panel comic titled "Real Life Prepping."Panel One's caption is "Arm yourself with antibodies." It shows a woman getting jabbed in the upper arm by a nurse while saying "Today I'm stockpiling ammo against biological agents." There's a sign on the wall behind them that says "Covid and Flu shots today."
Panel Two shows a man in a car putting on his seatbelt with a grim, battle-ready expression, and the caption "employ tactical body protection."
Panel Three is a woman putting on SPF 50 sunscreen, with the caption "Utilize radiation cloaking technology." The sunscreen bottle is making a "splorp" noise as it's shaken upside down.
Panel Four is a man at a table with fruit, leafy greens, and a box of berries. He's triumphantly holding up a broccoli and saying "No plaque is stopping my hemoglobin army". The caption is "Consume high grade life fuel for battle readiness."

@jensorensen wow, sorry to hear it Jen. My experience is the same as yours.First couple C19 doses were rough, down for a week. No probs with the Flu shot ever, but it is one I am veery careful not to miss. I forgot it 3 yrs ago and got hit with Flu(A) Sick for a month with a dry cough. Never again.
Love your work, so glad you're here on the Heffalump.

@jensorensen Brilliant!

@spocko Thank you!
@jensorensen I'm a big fan of broccoli and now pomegranate seeds! I subscribe to Michael Greger M.D. And he says that there's no such thing as big broccoli like there is big pharma. So it's great you are a broccoli booster. Here's some great nutrition facts about pomegranates. https://nutritionfacts.org/video/friday-favorites-pomegranate-a-natural-treatment-for-rheumatoid-arthritis-and-more/
