You have to delete every individual message inside for them to be gone. Insane.
@gamingonlinux Yep, there are tools for doing it but it is a very very slow process. If you want to do it manually, make sure to hold Shift as you delete to skip the "are you sure you want to delete?" dialog box each time.

@gamingonlinux Yup. I remember pointing this out soem time ago. People didnt seem to care (despite how complication-adverse people tend to be about thier social experience)

(Closing it only hides it from your list, it appears again any time you chat to that other person...)

@gamingonlinux even deleting your account doesn't delete your messages. it just dissociates the messages with the account.

@gamingonlinux It's not a bug, it's a feature. Reading Discord's privacy policy will explain it: they want all your data and they want to keep that data, because you are the product being sold.
So if you're a company (Discord) with an atrocious privacy policy and a history of leaking government documents provided by users for ID, you're obviously going to exploit every bit of data you can for profit, that's #discord's business model, so of course data is going to be hard for the user to delete.

@gamingonlinux And I doubt it's _actually_ deleted from their systems, either.

@gamingonlinux just another reason why I don't use discord.

@Rastal @gamingonlinux Except that their privacy policy explicitly states they do not sell your data. At least not yet. Discord is going public and who knows what will happen after that, going public never went well for the users regarding other companies.
