    My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today.

    Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man. Just last month, on Sept. 14, he turned 90, on the same day Brad and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary. I will always treasure that he and I shared that date.

    Walter was more than Chekov. He was a writer, a teacher, a thoughtful man, and a loyal friend. To the fans who loved him for so many years, thank you. He loved you too.

    Rest well, my dear friend. Keep navigating a steady course.

    – George

    Aww... I'm sorry to hear of your loss.

    I also really enjoyed his character in Babylon 5.

      @georgetakei

      We absolutely do NOT need Starlink and reflecting mirrors in space.
      But we damn well should be sending every Enterprise crew member out there in a modified photon torpedo case.

      West in peace, Pavel.

          @georgetakei @harrysintonen so sad. I'm just on my long due Star Trek marathon. Starting from first I've made all the way to Nemesis.

              @georgetakei it is wonderful to read these stories that put a (very positive) human dimension to many of the Star Trek actors I watched as I was growing up.

              Thank you for sharing your memories and thoughts, here! Condolences to all.

                  @georgetakei he also played a secondary role in Babylon 5. Don't remember the name of the character, the important guy among telepaths.

                                        @georgetakei May he rest in peace. He brought me half a century of joy with the Star Trek episodes. And I'm sure many others felt the same way. He lived a long life, and hopefully a prosperous one. 🖖🏼
