My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today.

Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man. Just last month, on Sept. 14, he turned 90, on the same day Brad and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary. I will always treasure that he and I shared that date.

Walter was more than Chekov. He was a writer, a teacher, a thoughtful man, and a loyal friend. To the fans who loved him for so many years, thank you. He loved you too.

Rest well, my dear friend. Keep navigating a steady course.

    – George

@georgetakei he also played a secondary role in Babylon 5. Don't remember the name of the character, the important guy among telepaths.

Alfred Bester, the character being intentionally named after the Sci-Fi writer.

                  M. Bester's catchphrase was "Be seeing you!", which was a nod to _The Prisoner_. I can hear it now, and it seems apposite.

                        My condolences.

I never met any of the crew of TOS Star Trek in person, yet your acting all left an indelible imprint on my existence in a way with which I do not have sufficient words of appreciation.

@georgetakei I've known his face all my life and it's amazing — I can still see that young man from Star Trek so clearly in this photo. He seemed like such a great guy.

@georgetakei I saw him at a convention years ago, like back in the 90s. I recall he told us he had wanted to say something for Star Trek 4 like " Admiral, Can we goto Disneyland?"

@georgetakei Was a fine chap ... always liked to see him when we had the chance to have him at FedCon. Will miss him. Live Long and Prosper, somewhere out there ... 🖖
