"If women wore smart glasses, they'd be banned."

Gloomily, I wonder if that’s true or if the forces of denial would just keep grinding.
@clew @Natasha_Jay They are actually using female models and designs thought to appeal to women now.
Probably because the all male approach became too apparent, but still -

epstein list came out and nothing much happened. this reverse surveillance might be somewhat embarassing but patriarchy means it has no teeth.
men are allowed (and sometimes even expected) to be terrible and face no consequences, whereas a woman will be held accountable for even the slightest gaff. -

although as a Gen X Brit I would find it mildly amusing if older ladies started wearing "Mary Whitehouse" glasses again but with cameras in them (they would be perfect dimensions for his) and judging everyones behaviour (it also seems worryingly like something that /could/ even happen)

Think about it. If millions of women wore smart glasses, recording men's behaviour, conversations, comments, their driving & bar chats ... can you imagine the panic? Smart glasses would be regulated before you can say the word 'Meta'.
@Natasha_Jay Especially if they were used to perform retroactive birth control. Victims would not have to wait years for a rape kit to be tested after providing a whole body as a genetic sample to speed up the process.

@Natasha_Jay Is that a suggestion? (Not a woman, but thinking about it)

@Natasha_Jay I hate the idea we would have to give Musk any money in order to get his rotten, dangerous, stalking product banned. I wonder if there’s a really good imitation set around, so folk think they are being filmed, when it’s actually a dummy pair. I’d buy those; or has someone managed to make a knockoff version yet?
@HarriettMB @Natasha_Jay It would be a fairly easy job to mount an LED & battery in a pair of sunglasses & make people think they're being recorded
Musk gets nothing, no laws get broken, technocreeps get heart attacks
Win win

As long as they weren't terves, racists, Karens, or any other sort of people we don't like.
@JuliaRez@chaos.social @Natasha_Jay@tech.lgbt idk i dont want terfs racist women or karens to be harrased by men either tbh. and if the pervert glasses stop men from harrasing them it’s a win in my book. some of them might even start a redemption arc if they’re harrased and thus stressed out less

@Natasha_Jay@tech.lgbt You just reminded me of the app which women report specific men that are dangerous. The amount of men I read online that's fully against it is interesting to say the least
-
@Natasha_Jay What an excellent idea! With publicity, that could easily take off...and as you say, they'd immediately get outlawed, lol!
I'm male and think it would be hilarious to watch the immediate change in male behaviour if they think it's being recorded!

Abs. However, you may bet yr bottom dollar that a given terf of average density is going to use those spectacles to document && harass anyone they suspect of Being A Trans.
So that tech fails at intersectionality right away.

@HarriettMB @Natasha_Jay Meta is the Zuck but at this point it doesn't matter, he's made donations to fascists and his platform spreads hate as well.

If a woman had developed and distributed the idea, with her name and face attached, like Zuckles has with his Raggedy Andy ass floppy doll head, the glasses would be deemed national-security and industrial-privacy risks across the world. Banned before shipping.
And it's absolutely not hyperbolic to assume a woman would have contract bounties put-out on them by cocks like Putin and Orban. -

Who would all the women buy those smart glasses from, though? -
@Natasha_Jay Is that a suggestion? (Not a woman, but thinking about it)
@gimulnautti I love how this clarification in parenthesis doesn't actually clarify, what are you thinking about
-
@Natasha_Jay woman + smart glasses = genius. Unfair.

Dismantling the house of the master using the tools of the master? Not possible.
You would be helping something you despise. -

Sousveillance is a thing. Seize the means of voyeurism and all that.
I would not mind a name and shame web site, something like "Boors of the week", that would make bouncers and barmen job so much easier.
Bonus point if every woman in the party actually put these glasses on at the same time and politely ask the idiot to repeat whatever he was saying just before.

@JuliaRez@chaos.social @Natasha_Jay@tech.lgbt terfs are gonna do terf shit regardless of any tech involved.
