@paninid A screenshot of a social media post by user Ryan Estrada, which includes text and an attached photograph. The text reads: "A cartoonist named Daniel "Des" Rolando Sanchez Estrada was tried as a terrorist and sentenced to 30 years in prison for having anti-Trump comics in his car. Prosecutors connected him to a 2025 anti-ICE protest he didn't even attend because he was in the same book club as others who were (including his wife, who got 70 years.) This one hits home for me, obviously. Zines are now a federal crime in the United States. They are setting precedent to go after anyone they want for writing or reading anything they don't like." The photograph shows an individual with a thick black beard and mustache wearing a brown hoodie, smiling while holding an open sketchbook toward the camera that contains various line-art drawings of creatures.

this is insane. we live in the upside-down.
this fascist regime pardons violent, insurrectionist traitors, then tries to reward them to the tune of $1.7B.
meanwhile, citizens expressing their constitutional 1st amendment rights are imprisoned for comics that hurt the dotard's feelings.
this is fascism. this is un-American. this is inhuman. this fascist regime must be stopped.
i am proudly #Antifa. & fuck anyone who is not.

@paninid no, they didn’t convict Des for having anti Trump comics, ffs. They convicted him for having anarchist comics, art and zines - ones he uses to effectively organize against empire as a whole. Don’t be part of the folks getting it twisted.

@riotmuffin @paninid They were all convicted of being anti-fascist. That's the "crime". Because the ruling regime is fascist, and fascists subvert the law to attack the opposition. The facts of the case literally do not matter. The outcome was determined first--imprisoning anti-fascists--and then people fall into the pattern already laid out. The fash have been frustrated, as their opposition so far has been *too peaceful*. This was one of the few actual gunshots. Non-fatal. 100 years.

@paninid This is fascism. Where will you end up, USA? Neither 1984 nor Handmaid's Tale were intended to be plans for the future.
