@randahl If the US really wanted to protect Greenland from China/Russia they would increase their military presence for defensive purposes. On The Guardian quoted Rasmussen as stating US military personnel is down to 200 from a high of 2000.
If protection is the real intent the US can invest in a military presence for defense.
But we know that has nothing to do with it.

The United States stood firm on the position that Greenland should belong to the US, which neither the people of Greenland wants, nor is it acceptable to Denmark.
Danish Foreign Minister Løkke used the press briefing to tear down several Trump lies, e.g. Trump’s claim that China is an active threat — Løkke clarified there has not been a Chinese warship near Greenland since 1950.
