I already (after couple of months of casual existence in the fediverse) feel a huge relief not being bombarded with ads + much less of a feeling of existing in a social mall. But do you think people will abandon big social media? Or we will just keep it as commercial venues? -

But do you think people will abandon big social media? Or we will just keep it as commercial venues?@chaosresearchparty Yes, beat the technofeudal media. And I think it's possible we will see people leaving in masses much larger than now, so that the relief you describe will be common too all users of the internet - again perhaps a relief we bring with us AFK. It will take a generation or two to get there, but it will be worth it and the effects will be felt at every step.
