Sure to all of this, but also: They're stupid, so even judging them as teenagers they still utterly misunderstand these stories, while also thinking they're aligned with the heroes even as everything they believe & say faithfully echoes the villains.
We must never, ever forget that with everything else these guys represent, they're also complete fucking idiots, growing exponentially dumber with each zero added to their net worth...

Seems to me you keep missing a key point due to not imagining yourself into their abnormal brain space.
Many have high IQs, but the neurotype trumps intelligence.

@DrALJONES Well, first of all IQ is a shitty measurement - more importantly, though, they're not special human beings in any way; they're just dumb little shits with too much money.
It's not even a pathology - they're just assholes. Building them up to something else is not only critihype, it also arms us for the wrong fight. Case in point: *gestures at everything*
