    @wdlindsy

    The New York Times certainly did its bit to portray Biden as too old to hold office, while it sanewashed #Trump. It's a little late for any of these pundits to be complaining about #Trump now

    @KathyLK I agree that NYT is very often reprehensible as it betrays its journalistic mission. I have never subscribed to it and will not do so. At the same time, I read articles there which are cited by commentators whose commentary I really do value.

      @wdlindsy I’ll never understand why the NYT features an opinion piece saying “worst prez ever” but they won’t put that headline on the front page.

      Years ago they should have said “massively unfit for office” or “impeachment now!“ or “must resign!”
      but no….they’ve engaged in sanewashing him and now they seem too scared to change course.

        @wdlindsy Trump's mass firings have sucked thousands of dollars out of my life (to pay for caregiving out-of-pocket). i am needing disability support, but Regional Center supporting me has been delayed by "staff shortages" in Social Security.

        I'm struggling to afford food rn. Food prices have gone up significantly, without SS being raised equally to inflation. Every year, I can afford less and less. Cutting back on more and more, and currently restricting myself from eating due to the costs.

          @wdlindsy No shit. But he didn't elect himself. The real problem is that the people who did could easily do worse in the future because they are unable to realize the consequences of electing someone utterly unqualified to be president.

              We subscribe to the NYT though we cancelled our subscription to the Washington Post when Bezos took over.

              I don't read it every day, though my SO does. I like the Science, Wirecutter, Television, and Book Review sections. Occasionally they'll publish an opinion column that I read, or a "breaking news" story. I also subscribe to former NYT columnists' substacks, like Paul Krugman's.

                      "Let me start at the beginning of today’s Trump social media spiral, which kicked off around 3 in the morning. Trump was up in the dead of night reposting a random MAGA account asking 'What will happen next?' with a question mark. Ok?

                        “'Lock him up.' Exclamation points. Having trouble sleeping, Donald?

                        By 6 a.m., Trump was on the phone with the New York Post, announcing that 'good news' on U.S.-Iran negotiations could come 'as soon as Friday.' ...

                        Trump officials privately admitted to CNN that his invented concessions actively damaged the talks before they could get off the ground. But he continues to lie. And sadly, many in the corporate media continue to report his lies as the truth."
