The UK government is eager to bring in online ID, a VPN ban etc, ostensibly to protect children online and yet the vast majority of MPs and gov officials continue to use X or FB, the very platforms guilty of promoting online harm.
It's not about protecting anyone, if they had any morals they would leave.

@leavex The "dissent" argument is bogus, but there is a case to be made for X casting a wider net and ergo worth watching. Outside of modern consumer economies where we can exercise "choice", some-one elsewhere in a sudden political/military nightmare will post to X, not Mastodon or others as yet. To keep informed it is best to maintain a tenuous connection...as I do via TOR.
Otherwise, it seems like not reading "Mein Kampf" because it's politics we hate...I'd say, read it and Know you enemy. The same applies to X.
