My little self-hosted Mastodon instance has over 5451272 public statuses, 2794300 tags and 329263 accounts in Elasticsearch and I recently rebuilt my ElasticSearch database from scratch. I use my instance search, and even have it setup in my browser as my search engine, first before Google Search or DuckDuckGo because the posts and content topics, many containing outside links, are many. https://docs.joinmastodon.org/admin/elasticsearch/

@kevin Welcome! There are MANY things to complain about with the Fediverse but detracters tend to overlook the many positive things about it. I left 30k followers on Twitter to "only" 6K here but my interactions and discussions are far better than what I had there.

It's still fairly small and the community is mostly technical but we're taking a "Long Now" approach here (not a silicon valley burst mode)
