Wikimedia Foundation workers voted 158 YES to 14 NO: 91.9% of ballots cast, with 81% turnout.

We’re so proud of everyone who built this union, and this win belongs to our whole community. We could not have done it without the solidarity of Wikimedia volunteers.

"No thanks, I'd rather not work together to ensure the best conditions under which to do this work that we love"...@jwcph @wwu As someone who once worked at a company where a unionization effort failed by _one_ vote: never underestimate the amount of money/effort an employer will pour into dirty union-busting tricks.
Given the landslide victory in this case, I have to figure employees were remarkably well-educated on the matter.

@kgf @wwu I know; I've seen examples of the propaganda (though it doesn't happen here & may in fact be illegal) - but I still have a hard time grasping that anyone will believe that the basically-no-downsides can possibly outweigh the plethora of almost free upsides... I guess there'll always be people who think they can only prosper at the expense of their colleagues.
