      @MyView @libreoffice
      This is about building a free, open source replacement for online, cloud services like Google Docs, or Office 365, this shouldn't impact the desktop OpenOffice suite.
      My kid, in university, uses Google Docs almost exclusively for everything, because you can share your documents and edit them collaboratively, in real time, with people from all over. It's kind of amazing, watching multiple people editing a document simultaneously...

        @libreoffice I approve but it should be payed because you can support the project with the money and users get a good product out of it . Looks about the same as what only office does

        @theoneisrightlad @libreoffice technically, they're just creating the hostable software, but not managing the liability of hosting it. Looks like they're hoping some other orgs will take up the helm, offering competitive pricing for folks.

        Seems like not a bad middle ground. I'm hoping something good pops up so I can recommend it to my non-techy friends.

          @libreoffice Can you do it that way that even I can host it? Like I can host Wordpress? Upload, put in data, hit install, done? 🙂 If I need a diploma in IT I am left out 🙂

            @WestFox35 @libreoffice

            It's not a competition: the company Colllabora is one of the driving forces behind LibreOffice. They are mentioned a lot in the release notes.

                @libreoffice so this is a follow-up to you calling OnlyOffice "fake open source" on that same blog?

                    @libreoffice@fosstodon.org @RandamuMaki@mstdn.social ? LibreOffice never mention or endorse Gemini usage.

                    GSoC has nothing to do with vibe-code, even a lot of participant strictly forbid vibe code.

                      @libreoffice wonderful but please make sure it doesn't require a container or require glibc on Linux and can run on the BSDs and Solaris derivatives. Thank you.
