@almonds @FediTips The one nice thing with ActivityPub about resistance to enshittification is that things like GoToSocial exist. It's completely feasible for a normal user to spin up a single person instance and run it at a fairly low cost.
AT Proto stuff is complicated and expensive. I do server hosting for a business and am leery about touching all that. It's multi-layered for no reason, obtuse in documentation, and expensive as all get out to fully self host.
I think AP is a lot more resistant just because in comparison the barrier to entry is so low.@arthfach @almonds @FediTips This. And even if the big instances enshittify there’s nothing to stop people hopping on smaller servers run by others which block the big instances, getting right back to business within the day. It’s rarely much different from where you’ve come from, it’s just hopping between modular apartments.

@FediTips Mixed feelings here. This is more nuanced that Twitter. I left that because of Musk's hypocrisy more than his allowing junk on the platform, but I'm a free speech absolutist. I'll be watching my bsky account to see if I notice a change. Does moderation and tone bend in favor of any one side?
