I had a meeting today that taught me that the SpaceX launch site in Louisiana is an even worse idea than I could have even imagined.

When I first came here, this was all swamp. Everyone said I was daft to build a launch site on a swamp, but I built in all the same, just to show them.
It sank into the swamp.
So I built a second one. That sank into the swamp.
So I built a third. That burned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp.
But the fourth one stayed up. And that's what you're going to get, the strongest launch site in all of America.
Here in the UK, on the line of the very early railway line between Liverpool and Manchester, there is a boggy area called Chat Moss. When they first built the railway line, they laid down rafts of wood and filled in with stone, until it stopped sinking. So, it worked for them....
Incidentally, the M62 motorway also runs over the area, and that section of it has a rather undulating surface.

You know what causes really intensely powerful vibrations in the ground? Rocket launches. And do you know what really powerful vibrations in the ground cause in coastal wetlands? Liquifaction.
SpaceX has completely lost their grip on reality and all of us are going to pay the price in various ways as they try to build impossible dangerous things.
"I built a launch pad, but it sank into the swamp..."
