If your goal is to oppose Trump's damage inside the US and across the globe, then actively trying to suppress online dissent of Trump feels like it's contrary to your goals.
Some of us are raising our voices, marching in protest, writing our senators, and encouraging people to vote. Not sure what else you expect of individual citizens, but shaming the ones vocally opposing Trump for being American is no way to encourage resistance.

Yeah - as a Canadian I can say that I believe (most of) the American people are going to remain a core ally in this fight against fascism. We shouldn't alienate them -- but we do have high expectations out of you guys, the stakes are really high right now.

and if you can, get the Dems to wake up? I dunno, when Schumer wants to focus on affordability in 2026, can someone please impart upon him, and the Dems, is to get trump out of power and show people what his actions have done to the US economy.

@augieray My intention isn't shame, it's to enact economic pressure on the US government into stop bulling the world into its demands.
Making people who didn't vote for this assclown feel bad isn't going to solve anything.
The GOP however can get f*cked.

@maya_b I wrote my Democratic senator to express very candid frustration in her lackluster approach to fighting Trump. I intend to keep it up.
At the same time, I suspended contributions to the Democratic party until their leaders grow a spine.

@javensbukan Even as an American, I support economic pressure that might harm the US and force change. After all, that's the primary tool wielded by Trump against our allies.

@augieray on one hand directing hostility to Americans who are criticising the regime they find themselves living under now is completely unproductive and in many respects unfair.
On the other hand, we are becoming very fatigued at the continuous defensive retorts of "not me" and "we agree with you" and how they've been VOTING SO HARD and written SO MANY LETTERS and PROTESTED SO LOUD and it hasn't been working and they don't know what to do next and how everything is awful!
What I would like Americans to recognise is that opposing the current regime is not enough. Dumping MAGA is not enough. America as you've known it is beyond saving it needs complete REBUILDING, that the current regime is a result, not the cause if your problems and your actions must be framed around that.
What is happening in Minnesota is hard to watch but encouraging. General strike. Good. More active civil disobedience is needed. Now go out and do that in every big city in every state every week if the year!

@augieray I have no way of knowing what posts you are referring to, but the ones I see and post myself are 1) sent in good faith to provide outside perspective, encouragement for mass peaceful action & to stiffen spines and 2) *not aimed at those who act*, only at those who lay the blame for ineffective opposition solely at the feet of their representatives, or think this can wait to be entirely resolved by wins in the mid-terms. (I haven't seen/noticed any attempts to suppress online dissent)

@augieray absolutely, and it is why I push back on that sort of counterproductive behaviour. It is important to voice opposition to the regime, to vote while you still can, to pester your politicians with petitions and letters and protest in the streets.
But...it is past being enough to fix things. Y'all gotta get next level. Some of you have been all along but it has to really ramp up. Perhaps more of that is going on than we are aware of given how such things often must be done covertly. I certainly hope it is.
Anyways, my point us yeah, we know, we agree, but we've heard it so often for so long now we are just...fatigued by it. I support you and hope for the best possible outcome as you all work through this. I'm just trying to convey where the reactions ate coming from and how deep the wounds are and how much effort it will really take to set things right.
