Yay, the Cosina SLR worked, no obvious light leaks, mostly in focus.
My auto levelling needs some work I admit.
Some samples from the first roll of film I've used in almost 3 decades. And the first time I've ever used black and white film.
For the curious: Ilford XP2 black and white iso400 film, Cosina SLR, Helios 44-2 lens.

@0xThylacine Yay, that looks good! Looks like you may have got hold of a good copy of the Helios lens (they are highly variable!). Have you tried for the swirly bokeh yet? I have a Helios 44K-4, works on my K-mount Pentaxes as a proper open metering lens, it's sharp but also swirly when needed! Love it. Maybe I'd better find it and give it another go...

Ok, had to resize them as several are too large for mastodon.

@carusb Thanks so much, both for the compliment and your help in getting my old camera operational with advice.
I have a decent Helios that I bought a fair while ago. Not yet tried for the swirl with film, save for a couple that were not good subjects.

@carusb I had an attempt at a close focus shot to get some swirl, but it wasn't an ideal subject. (Of course, the moment I took these, I did find some better subjects. But film is finite.

@0xThylacine Just a hint in those lens-shaped highlights!

@0xThylacine Ilford XP2 400 is a great way to start exploring B&W film. Nice photos!

@Jim_Graves Thank you.

Some more from my walk around Bellerive Point with the Cosina SLR.
I should add these are 'full frame', straight from the negative scans with no editing (other than scale down by 50%).
All taken with a Cosina SLR wearing a Helios 44-2, shining on Ilford XP2.
