Looking for a quality weighted blanket

I bought a cheap one off Amazon to see if it would help my insomnia. It seems to work, but this particular blanket triggers my allergies, perhaps it’s the polyester.
Anyway, I’m looking for a better one, ideally from a reputable brand, not one of the faceless alphabet-soup “brands” all selling the same product from the same factory in Shenzhen.

I don’t know if you have Jysk wherever you’re from, but it seems decent quality. You can put a duvet cover on the blanket, so you can pick and choose whichever material you’re most comfortable with.
Can’t comment on how fair the production is - hadn’t done that research back then. But at least it’s not off Amazon

My partner has used a YNM weighted blanket for a few years. I’m not sure which material it is (they seem to offer bamboo, poly, linen, and others).
That might still qualify as faceless alphabet soup though.

We have a bearaby blanket. It’s a little different from most weighted blankets in that it doesn’t have a bunch of little beads or whatever sewn into it for weight, its just knitted from a ton of fabric. Because it is knitted it’s very breathable which is nice because I’m a pretty hot sleeper.
It’s also probably a little more washable than a lot of other blankets because of that, but you may need to make a trip to the Laundromat to use the big washer.
If you’re not a fan of the knit, I imagine you could probably stick it in a duvet cover.

I got a cheap one off Amazon and put it in a duvet cover, may help if your allergies are only from direct contact. My reasoning was I can keep my weighted blanket and easily swap it to whatever color scheme I want

Ah lol. 50€ seems to be pretty cheap compared to the average price of a weighted blanket. How much did your cost?

I haven’t heard mention of jysk in so long. When I was a kid my dad would drive us to pick up my mom from work and there was one in the neighboring lot. It was super middle of nowhere and I’ll have to look up if its still around.

My daughter’s counselor suggested we try a weighted blanket, and boy is it hard to find something that you know is gonna be quality. It wasn’t cheap but I went with one from Baloo Living, particularly because they use glass beads instead of plastic, and they had a small “throw” size that was just what she needed. It’s only been a couple of months, but so far so good. She loves it. I have even washed and dried it successfully at home in our washer/dryer which honestly I was worried about. So, if it’s not outside your budget, I would recommend them.

I have one of these and can highly recommend it. I chose the Bearaby because it didn’t have those little beads. I’ve heard if those bead pockets rupture while in the wash, they’ll destroy a washing machine.

That’s a big part of the reason we went with it. Even if it didn’t destroy the washing machine, you just know eventually it’s gonna break open somehow and then you’re gonna be stuck cleaning up those beads.
And the weight distribution on some of them just isn’t very good, more like having a pile of beanbags on you than an extra heavy blanket
