No, seriously - when I was in business development I worked with biz school folks who simply had to believe that business is rational.
Presented with evidence of this kind of greed-driven stupidity they clung with all their might to the fantasy that business knows something we don't & had optimized perfectly according to this secret wisdom.
They're taught this circle logic; business is rational & therefore everything it does is rational.
