IIRC, "politics" refers to situation where there are two or more defensible positions, and discussion which is better.

If you have "genocide to uphold an apartheid state" vs. "basic human rights", it's not really a political question: some positions just aren't defensible.

Similar with Ukraine: "sovereignty of a state and freedom of its citizens" vs. "invasion by an imperialistic country with well-known economic and political corruption" doesn't feel like a debate.
