He added that Pinchart should skip the text editor for his commit messages too. It was sarcasm with a point: Linux Kernel Quits Making Devs Admit AI Use. @BrideOfLinux There is a huge difference between a compiler and a LLM. Linus is make me seriously consider moving to netBSD. I know there's no way to keep slop out of software nowadays, but I personally don't believe it has a place in the kernel, especially if it is not labeled as such.

I doubt it is fully Linus, in the Old Days I could see him avoiding #ai
But the Linux Foundation (LF) is owned by the Large Corporations pushing #ai and the LF Pays Linus and some #Linux Developers. Since that is the case, I would expect this decision came directly from LF via the corporations.
But I agree, #linux + #ai is bothering me a lot. FWIW, posted using #NetBSD 11.0 via #firefox on a Thinkpad T430

> Some contributors never read the rule. Others knew it and stayed quiet, partly out of fear of a backlash against LLM users.if you fear a backlash when guests find out that your bakery has started to add crushed kitten bones to the flour — one of the staff is guessing it's up to 90% — then it's totally the right call to stay quiet about it or just never read the rule about listing ingredients. that way the guests will be happy. /s
