      @anderslund The problem with AB is not only its closed source, but the consequences for the cities and communities.

      It raises living cost and removes small, affordable housing. It drives speculative property hoarding and removes social cohesion in neighborhoods.

      Fair-bnb gives 50% of the earned platform commision to local social projects, to compensate for some of those exploitative consequences.

      Its most widespread in southern europe, which suffers the most from AB

        That's like blaming VW for traffic congestion. Perhaps the politicians on all levels should be addressed instead. Taxes and city planning.

          @Pascal_dher @anderslund Maybe.

          In my city all the small houses and annexes in the backyards have disapperaed and become short term rentals.

          Floors before rented out as cheap apartments for artists etc. are now being used for b & b.

          From my pov air bnb has made the city less usable and liveable for people with low and unstable income.

          And more usable for tourists.

          The rents and prices are going up, because loans can be afforded through b & b income.

            It's a HUGE problem. I'm not dismissing it. But its your politicians who makes the rules.
            There may be a market for social rental platforms - but to a large degree it also just greenwashes exactly the same trend.
            Your local community is the decision maker. Your politicians are their representatives.
            It's difficult to say no to more easy money, but there are other ways forward.

              @Pascal_dher @anderslund I agree.
              But sometimes the way forward is mixed solutions.
              Maybe the funding could be used for a social centre, were activist can gather and work for a just housing policy 🙂

              Do you have any concrete examples of policy put into practices as a way forward?

              The distance between citizens and local politicians are very short were i am 🙂 They could use some policy inspiration, local elections are coming up.

                  @Pascal_dher @anderslund Perfect. Thank you so much.

                  Its smart to just make a limit, to divide an conquer the professionals from the small fish.
