@kevinrns @vicfroh Counterpoint: There are more than a hundred million people in the US attempting to defeat this Fascist crime ring. We can do more than one thing at a time. Just because people are planning for midterms (a very important task, I might add) doesn’t mean others aren’t working in hundreds of other ways to apply pressure right now.

I'm seeing ever-larger anti-ICE protests, my state officials are filing molto lawsuits, and we're being quite loud about all this. Might not be enough, but it's what we can do.If it comes to a general strike, I'll down tools and march.

@drahardja @n1xnx @kevinrns @vicfroh I think a lot of our national media is abdicating their responsibility to report how many large protests are happening, even in smaller towns. At the same time, it feels like the larger social media networks have become some mix of complicit, overloaded with ads, and/or filled with Nazis, bots and Nazi bots. That makes it hard for people to organize or self-report bc many people have either left those networks or don't feel they can trust those networks.

Presently, The dis-United States of America and Iran are both holding mass protests against their authoritarian regimes. All we can do from other places is and see which of the two succeed.

It's okay, the fascism is just a test run being used to punish us for wanting something better. They're not gonna let it bolt to full dictatorship, it's MUCH more sustainable long-term to run a feint to convince us our previously scheduled police brutality and planetwrecking was the "normal" we should be desperately grateful to get back to.
They can run that play out for at least a decade, if not another entire generation.

Canadian here and I don't think it's a fair assessment. It's clear from Mastodon and footage of protests that many, many Americans are making the effort... often at risk to their personal safety.
The problem (a problem, anyway), is the disinformation silos that millions of people unknowingly spend their lives in. Half the populace is being shown a reality that's totally different from what we're seeing. They need to be liberated from those silos. Somehow.

Our political representatives won't represent us, the highest court gave Trump a dictator's power, and the media is owned by his friends.
What people without power are doing—massive marches, days of protest, civil disobedience—is barely covered.
Lower courts have suspended the "presumption of regularity". Meaning the government can no longer be trusted in court. This was unheard of less than a year ago.
The rule of law is actually being SUPPORTED by lower courts. THEN, the Supreme Court changes the law.
Resisters are still looking for the new strategy that beats this new fascist game. But I don't see much slacking, just people who look in their toolbox, and know they need a different toolbox.

@vicfroh While all of this is true, there are many many of us who are protesting, who are calling our senators and congresspersons, who are organizing and helping to feed, house, clothe, and even hide our neighbors, who are building relationships and communities of care locally, as well planning to vote in the midterms. Just because you are not seeing it, doesn't mean it isn't happening.
