@MohammedHussein please don't jump on trending posts to boost your visibility for mutual aid requests. It's a quick way to get reported and/or suspended here, because it's a tactic that scams and spammers use constantly.

@MohammedHussein I get so many appeals to share mutual aid campaigns because of my follower count. Any trending post I write gets at least one or two (not to mention follow requests and DMs).

I do share and donate to *some* mutual aid requests, but *only* if I know it's a real person, that I know personally, or that comes with strong recommendation from someone I know personally.

It's the only way I can make sure I'm not directing my followers to support scams. If my followers lose faith in my ability to screen these requests, then they stop supporting the good ones too, and then even more folx don't get help.

The best (and really only) way to actually get mutual aid here is to be an active member of the community, build relationships, and contribute positively to Fedi.
