@alice "I wrote to you because I saw that you have followers, and maybe sharing my appeal could reach people who trust you and help save my family.
I feel shy asking this, but any support can make a huge difference@MohammedHussein I get so many appeals to share mutual aid campaigns because of my follower count. Any trending post I write gets at least one or two (not to mention follow requests and DMs).
I do share and donate to *some* mutual aid requests, but *only* if I know it's a real person, that I know personally, or that comes with strong recommendation from someone I know personally.
It's the only way I can make sure I'm not directing my followers to support scams. If my followers lose faith in my ability to screen these requests, then they stop supporting the good ones too, and then even more folx don't get help.
The best (and really only) way to actually get mutual aid here is to be an active member of the community, build relationships, and contribute positively to Fedi.

Your words mean so much to me in these very difficult days.
I also hope, with a broken heart and a shy request, that you could write a clear post explaining that I am from Gaza, that I urgently need support as I prepare to welcome my first baby in these harsh circumstances, and that I started a one-euro donation campaign so I wouldn’t place a heavy burden on anyone. Please explain why I need the help and where people can donate. -
