Knitters are protesting ICE presence in Minnesota with red hats. Yarn shop Needle & Skein is encouraging knitters and crocheters to take part in a project inspired by resistance to Nazi Germany in the 1940s, when Norwegians made and wore red pointed hats with a tassel as a form of protest against Nazi occupation who made the hats illegal. The shop shared a $5 knitting or crochet pattern for their “Melt the ICE” hat, with all proceeds going to those impacted locally by ICE.
