In all seriousness though, some thoughts, a brief 🪡
1) I was lucky to have such excellent history teachers at school AND that I was offered + took "European history" A-level at my normal British comprehensive because I reckon most people would be completely lost, almost studied history at uni + this series reminds me why. -

Only now I'm ("a bit") older, it all starts to make sense....

3) it really is difficult to understand where we are and who we are today without understanding the past. And there is a hell of a lot "we" in western Europe have either forgotten or never learned.

4) Europe is a blood-soaked battlefield. Listening to a historian from outside #Europe tell our story brings it home like never before firstly just how much #blood has been shed here and how necessary the #EU as a #peace project is, but also, how the EU has been foreshadowed.
Anyway.. it's an excellent series. Highly recommended and stor tak
