@infobeautiful I think all projections distort size and shape, so I'm not sure "true country size" is meaningful here.
Greenland's land area is approximately six times the size of Germany. Greenland has roughly the same size as Saudi Arabia. The USA is rougly 5 times bigger than Saudi Arabia.)

@davey_cakes Regardless of your sarcasm, that is not the choice for Denmark to take (your joke reproduces that idea). Greenland has native people living there and it is not something to hand over or not.

@edgeofeurope @infobeautiful Indeed. I feel that the anti-Mercator abuse neglects what the projection is good for, and what practical problem it was invented to solve.
