I propose we make 1st of April into April's Sincerity Day.

I propose we make 1st of April into April's Sincerity Day. No scams, falsehoods, fake news, pranks or irony the whole day. The rest of the year is already filled with it and we already don't believe most of what we hear. On 1st of April this year, we celebrate speaking with frankness and truthfulness, being sincere and direct, and practice the antidote to the widespread misbelief and apathy towards what we say. We'll try treating each other like something else than fools.

I like this idea. I've never liked practical jokes or pranks -- even more so now that we get very unpleasant surprises every freakin' day.

#AprilsSincerityDay could need a better name perhaps

@malte @digitalsnow You know how pranks aren't supposed to be made after noon? At the very least the afternoon could be a time of rest and reconciliation. Maybe it'd set a trend of half-Days.

@malte "The Importance of Being Earnest"? No, scratch that. I think that's already taken.

@michaelc I sense some sarcasm here!

@malte Not regarding the idea, but maybe a little with my suggestion for a different name.

@michaelc Good to know. That's the thing with sarcasm, it tends to blur the lines and create a lot of ambiguity.

@malte I anticipated you saying 'earnestness' in your original post, and thought it would have been perfect for a literary reference. Then you mentioned looking for a name and that was the opening.

@michaelc I see the logic - I'm happy to get reminded about Wilde and am curious to go find the text in the library on my Easter holiday now. If it wasn't the case that I am being fully sincere about the proposal I would be less cautious to trigger sarcasm.
