Do Not Talk To Me About "AI"
I had some cards printed up.
These are unlikely to change any minds, but they will defintely shorten some incredibly tedious conversations at the bar.

By using AI, you have given a pass to :- The staggering climate and ecological impact
- The outright attack on labor by capital
- The systemic disregard of consent
- The basis in wholesale theft and plagiarism
- The assault on the very concept of objective truth
- The enrichment of the most cringe billionaire fascist motherfuckers the world has ever seen
There is no ethical use of AI
If you ignore all of that, you are trying to negotiate what level of harm to others you find acceptable for your personal, selfish benefit. You advance the agenda of these hollow-eyed, joyless money-ghouls who resent art, creativity, and life itself.

@mhkohne @jwz you don't get my point though. there is harm reduction in using the models as an individuals because the models exist and its either just companies using them or giving more power to the people too. then if you are a purist like yourself, suppose a law gets passed, which law can remove all gguf files from everyones computers? are you sure that bad actors cant hold onto weights regardless? cant good people use ai ethically?

I do not use speech like that. I believe that using a cuss shows a lack of vocabulary. By saying that I am not passing any judgement over anyone else. It is my personal feelings for myself and nobody else.
If you change them, I'd be happy to print some out.

@curltoes I suspect quite a few people are overwhelmed by the whole topic which spans geopolitical questions, like superpowers pursuing nuclear weapons once did, to smaller scale but not less important question, like how am I going to earn any money if "AI takes over", so they just decide to hide behind their hands (or flashy cards) like a child. The one sure way not to shape any kind of policy...
@SDRHoernchen yeah, i understand there are lots of emotions in this which is why everyone disagrees with me, or linus torvalds, etc.

@curltoes i don't see what's so surprising to you. he posted cards he created that literally say not to talk to him about it, then posted about those cards, and you insist on sliding into his replies to demand a conversation. now you're saying he's being mean for no reason? the reason is clear as anybody could ask for. leave him alone about it
if you honestly were confident with it being okay for you to use local models you wouldn't insist on arguing with people about it for validation or whatever motivates you to disregard basic boundary setting

@xyhhx why assume things about me too? and i said extremist because on one hand there are people who embrace ai (extreme) and people who are anti ai no matter the nuance (extreme). im in the middle.
