I have zero expertise/experience with that so far.

    Re-posts will be highly appreciated.

@timofruehwirth What is your current setup / hardware? Maybe we can give specific tips.

Generally: For the purposes of digitizing / ripping CDs, get a decent CD drive and run software like cdparanoia. I've ripped >3400 CDs to FLAC over the years.

                https://xiph.org/paranoia/

@timofruehwirth a few stray thoughts that might help

Software-wise: I run a media server in a cupboard to the amplifier with MPD on it. This allows you to use an MPD client (like M.A.L.P. on Android) to control the playback queue, browse the music library etc. So basically the SERVER outputs the music, but you can control the music playback on the server, from your phone/tablet/laptop/other PC.

My actual server is a raspberry pi, with an external DAC soundcard attached. I have a Cambridge Audio amplifier through which it all runs.

For digitizing CDs, I would use whipper. It provides accurate ripping (with AccuRip verification) and cue files to recreate the original CD, byte-for-byte, if you want.

I would use FLAC as your music format. You get a space saving over WAV, while losing nothing. The FLAC can be decode back to the WAV and it will be byte-identical.
