This shit writes itself. This is so beyond parody at this point I can't write about it.

I had an author friend gush, for paragraphs, about how amazing my editing was. It was funny. It was honest. It was developmental juice that didn't have any trouble asserting its flavor. He begged me to know what LLM I was using because he had other editors use LLMs and they weren't nearly as good or funny or sincere and they didn't seem to understand the work the way I did.

this has got to be the shortest email I've ever written. I replied,

    “I used my fucking brain.”

@WeirdWriter your article on the writers club really lingers in my mind. i'm reminded of the audiobook readers who turned up to the new LLM-free club and were thrilled to get the chance to read something that wasn't so LLM written trash for a change

turns out human written prose has a real impact on people. who would have guessed.

@Yza Thank you! I’ve corrected spelling and grammar issues in that narrative also by the way, but this is why I’m seeing a massive increase in events like audiobook listening groups at the library and things like that. I’ve actually found that my local library has a lot of events that I can tell people about my drafty writers group and everybody seems really interested

@WeirdWriter The text of your website is gigantic on mobile. Each line fits two or three words and they’re frequently hyphenated, making it hard to read.

@WeirdWriter it's a delight to see people turning on LLMs. If a product is made using them, then people are far more likely to avoid it. I wish I could be so optimisitc as to say people are coming to appreciate the work they took for granted, but I suspect they're just coming to hate AI trash. Not my idel, but I'll take it.

I'm thrilled to watch the collapse of the AI industry, but I do wish we weren't all bound to suffer from its death flails.
