"RAM: WTF?", a deep dive from end-user (=you) perspective into the current skyrocketing in computers and similar devices memory (RAM) and briefly also storage (flash=NVMe+other SSD) which is expected to last for an exceptionally long time, by some experts up to about a decade.

I recently bought DDR5 RAM for a computer build I had previously planned to do probably around May 2026, but while my plan was to use DDR5-6000 at CL26 or lower CL, I found out that it was too late as CL26 simply does not exist in the country at all for end-users now and the major retailer I spoke to said their regional supplier has no plans to supply CL26, at all, so I had to go for CL28 and that seemed to be running out too as several retailers listed those as available for order "in supplier's warehouse" and similar but then when order was placed they replied that "oh, whoops, nope, they didn't have it and now we are removing the listing".
Similar for M.2 NVMe.
So, unless something drastically changes the trajectory ("AI"-bubble pops or similar) and if you intend to build a new computer or similar within the relevant timespan of years, you probably should have gotten your RAM/NVMe/etc already, but now is probably better than soon or next year. Probably... nobody knows.
